Trending in Airsoft 2019 (Currently)

With airsoft companies constantly looking for ways to innovate the airsoft world, there is always something new to look forward to. With time moving forward, the trends are constantly changing. Weather it be gear, accessories, airsoft guns, or even camouflage. I am going to talk about some of the current airsoft trends in 2019.

AR Pistols

I would say the release of pistol caliber rifles in airsoft started in about 2017. However the trend didn’t pick up until the middle of 2018 and carries on into 2019. With manufacturers like Classic Army, G&G, and Ares all having versions of a rifle with a pistol caliber style magazine. I think it is safe to say that AR Pistols have made a permanent home in airsoft.

Camouflauge

Everyone has a personal favorite when it comes to camo patterns. I personally love Multicam and Woodland. I know a lot of others who would agree with me. However with new studies and releases of different camouflage patterns. There are some patterns that gain popularity. With everyone’s personal opinions set aside. The current trendy camouflage is CADPAT! That is right! I am just as surprised as you are! Canadian Disruptive Pattern is the current trend. Released back in 2002 for the Canadian Armed Forces. CADPAT has made its way around the airsoft trends. I do believe that eventually everyone will go back to Multicam. (Cisco is a little salty!) We have notice that Multicam Black is starting to rise in popularity again.

Grenades

There are a plethora of airsoft grenades on the market. Both sound grenades the the “Thunder B” Style or BB Spreading grenades like the Z-PArts ERAZ Greande. The newest airsoft grenade to hit the market is an updated version of a classic! Airsoft Innovations released their Tornado 2 Timer Grenade! Shooting out 200 BBs at 240 FPS, with a 360 degree spread. This will tag everyone in the target room of your choice! Airsoft Innovations has released a plethora of awesome products throughout the years. The Cyclone Grenade, XL Burst Banger, and the 40 Mike are some of my favorite products. The Tornado 2 Timer Grenade gives you different options of use compared to their impact grenades.

MOSFETS

Since about 2014, MOSFETS in airsoft have become very popular. To the point where some manufacturers are including them out of the box! MOSFETS originally were used to help regulate the electricity flow. They have now evolved into being able to program settings and increase the performance of your airsoft gun. Companies like GATE and JeffTron are after market MOSFETS that will help increase the overall performance of your airsoft gun!

Tracer Units

Glow in the dark BBs have been around for a long time in airsoft. With more players now wanting to record their game play and see track their BBs. Tracer units have become more popluar. Companies like AceTech and XCortech have made the huge advancements into tracer units. Allowing for more compact designs.

What are some of the trends in airsoft that you know? If there are some we missed, let us know! We are always looking out for whats new and in demand! If we get enough submissions, we will do another list and shot you out!

Our crowd from the day of the After Action Report

Written by Virginia resident and son of Odin, Marcus  “Thor” Olsson, is his After Action Report for Augusta Airsoft, LLC. A frequent player to Ballahack Airsoft in Chesapeake, Virginia, all-around great guy, and a pillar of the airsoft community for Virginia.

The owner at Augusta Airsoft sent me an invitation to come out and play at his field located in Stuarts Draft, VA several months ago. I was finally able to make it out there yesterday…Below is my review of my experience going to and playing airsoft at Augusta Airsoft, LLC. Along with some information about the field…

For those that use navigation equipment, just punch in 152 Johnson Drive, Stuarts Draft, VA and that will get you there. For me…I live in Hampton, VA so it was just under a three (3) hour drive for me. Convenience stores and gas stations are close by the field just up the main drive and within just a few miles of the field located on the main highway.

Information About the Field:

Hours of Operation are Saturdays from 12:30PM to 5:00PM and Tuesdays from 5:30PM to 7:30PM (Rain or Shine)
Admission is $20.00 on Saturday and $10.00 on Tuesday
Rentals are $10.00

You can call (540) 470-8713 or email [email protected] for additional information or check out their website at http://www.augustaairsoft.com/

They also have a FaceBook page https://www.facebook.com/AugustaAirsoftSV/ where they post photos, updates and information about their upcoming events.

I highly recommend anyone planning to go to Augusta Airsoft, LLC that you check out their website. There you will find their safety rules and requirements posted, as well as an electronic waiver that you must sign before you go out to the field. There is also other information so again check out their website before heading out there.

How ASGI Marq got into Tech work

Originally written by ASGI Marq

It’s one thing to know how to install aftermarket parts. It’s another to know how they all work together. Originally, when I began playing airsoft, like most people, would go to their nearest sporting good store to purchase their airsoft gun. Little did I know that Airsoft GI was close to home. The first airsoft gun that I purchased was a JG M4A1. I have to say I was a bit surprised that the gun had a velocity of over 380 feet per second. Sure enough Airsoft Playground in El Monte had a 350 fps limit so I had to do something to drop the feet per second. Then and there I always wondered how to customize my own airsoft gun. Not just simply decreasing the muzzle velocity but by increasing rate of fire and reliability.

There were many tutorials online but where I learned and understood most is from the people I knew that already had the tech mindset. I was given tips and pointers of some basics when it came to disassembling the gun then I adapted and learned more on my own, mainly through trial and error. Some days it was very tedious, but as time went by I learned a few tips and tricks when it came to replacing other internal components. I once thought that I knew it all, however, ever since I started working at Airsoft GI, I have gained so much more knowledge from our world class tech department.

Back in Black | ASGI Bill’s Rig

Recently I was in the market for a new plate carrier as my trusty Condor Quick Release Plate Carrier was slowly wearing out from 4 years of hard abuse. After talking to Bob about his setup (as well as trying on his plate carrier) I chose the Specter MPC plate carrier in black as I have always like black gear. I understand that is may not be as hip or cool as the newest camo (cough* multicam, cough*) or anything in tan, but I has always given me the PMC/Mercenary look I try to go for. Let me tell you, this plate carrier is well worth the price, and I plan to always buy American made plate carriers from now on, as it is built like a Mack truck and can take a beating.

If you have ever seen my loadout, I carry a lot of stuff, and I mean A LOT. On the front of my plate carrier I have 3 Tactical Tailor pouches, each holding two magazines a piece, and next to those, I have two High Speed Gear TACO pouches with pistol TACO’s attached. These are my “I need to reload 5 seconds ago” pouches. On my chest I have a Condor admin pouch where I proudly wear my Defenders of Liberty patch and Team Airsoft GI Patch. Besides patches, that is where I put my wallet, keys, and any random little items.
