According to our sources on the internet, what follows is your top questions to internet search engines, and our own social media. We’re here to help you out, let’s get to these answers! Got more questions? Leave us a comment below!

It all come down to the player. Everyone has their own preferences and dislikes. I personally like electric rifles over gas powered rifles.
They are consistent in FPS and the magazines hold more rounds. With pistols, I prefer gas powered airsoft pistols. I honestly would never recommend an electric airsoft pistol to anyone. The gas powered pistol are fun to shoot and give you a more realistic feeling when playing, while electric ones can feel sluggish for serious gameplay.

Which is the most popular airsoft gun in the market?

The most popular airsoft gun on the market would be the M4 platform. Almost every airsoft company makes their own version of the M4 for a reason. It is the “Honda Civic” or “Barbie Doll” of the gun world. You can build it exactly the way you want it. Perfect for you in every way. One amazing thing about the M4 platform is if you have a group of 5 people who use it. If you lay them all down side by side. they will be slightly different compared to each other.

Which of your airsoft guns is your favorite and why?

Even though I have built and own a lot of airsoft guns. My favorite airsoft gun would be my JG G36c. It is over 11 years old and is currently broken, but two of my best friends gave me that gun back in 2009. Back when I was piss broke and all of my other guns were cheap and broken. They didn’t ask for any money or say that I owed them anything. They gave me that gun so I could go out with them and play. So I wasn’t the only one of us who got left out. I will never forget that and I will always keep that gun.

This gun is no longer made, but the Elite Force G36C is available and has all of the official trademarks.

(That trigger control…. Gross!)

Which companies make the best airsoft guns?

“Best” is a term that I really don’t like to use. As I mentioned earlier, everyone has their own preferences. What I might find to be the best gun out of the box, might not be suited for others. I like to build my guns and experiment with different parts. When I have the extra amount of cash, I will usually pick a VFC for the base. They have solid externals, but the internals leave room for improvement. If I were recommending a gun to a friend who would never take the gun apart. I would probably recommend them a Classic Army gun depending on their budget. The skirmish line is affordable with upgraded features out of the box, so they can be very competitive on the field. If they have more spending money. I have recently fallen in love with the Classic Army MK18 Gen2 Nemesis. All of the upgraded features and internals in a solid metal body! There is nothing I would do to the gun except maybe an R-Hop and throw some accessories on it. I built a MK18 out of a Lonex base gun and it ended up costing me well over what the Classic Army normally retails for.

Which is more powerful, an airsoft gun or a BB gun?

A BB Gun will be more powerful. They are made for target shooting and rodent control. Even though the .177/4.5mm Metal BBs are smaller, they are much heavier than airsoft BBs/pellets. Which means they have more energy on impact. Comparing an Airsoft 6mm Pistol to a .177/4.5mm BB Gun. If both are shooting 350 FPS, the BB Gun will have more energy and can cause much more damage to the target. BB/Air guns are definitely not safe for use on other humans, even with safety equipment. With the right safety gear, airsoft is a fun and enjoyable hobby for people of many ages and backgrounds.

Which airsoft pistols look as real as the true ones?

A majority of airsoft pistols are based from real firearm models. The most accurate to real guns would be Gas Blow Back models. They are typically made to be a 1:1 external replica with a very similar functionality to the real firearm. EX: Magazine Release, Slide Catch/Release, Trigger Shape/Look, Safety Switch, etc. The most ubiquitous would be the 1911 style pistols, replicating several manufacturers and styles.

Top 8 Questions: “How” Edition

Hello Again Airsofters! We here at Airsoft GI working on a new format for answering some of the most popular beginner questions in the airsoft industry, as scrounged up by all kinds of AI and fancy computer technology!

This time, we’re centering on questions starting with the word “How” in relation to airsoft. We’ve scrolled through a few different internet databases that tell us what new and curious airsofters are asking on the internet, compiled them here into our top eight favorites, and we’re going to answer them for you today! Let’s get into it!

How many types of airsoft guns are there?

The short answer is countless. There are innumerable makes , models, and styles of gun out there. To quantify this a bit more simply, there are three primary modes of delivering power to an airsoft bb, however. These are Spring, Electric, and Gas, with gas containing a few subsets as well. Within the category of gas guns, you have CO2 powered, Green Gas, and High Pressure Air as your primary sources of the “gas” in either blowback or non-blowback styles. These can fit a variety of roles, quality levels, and aesthetic styles based on your preferences, and quality varies, with no one specific style being better than another without comparing specific guns.

How do Airsoft guns work?

Airsoft guns work by using the concept of air or gas compression to deliver force to a bb, that is then spun by a hop –up bucking to rotate the bb and generate lift so that it can attain distances otherwise impossible to hit. Different power styles do this is different ways, by using compressed green gas or CO2, or by generating their own compression via a piston either racked by hand or by a motor and gears powered by electricity. Some guns can even use the power of high pressure air and a solenoid, similar to how a paintball gun functions.

How do electric and gas airsoft guns differ?

The primary difference is in the way that they deliver power to the BB. An electric gun utilizes a simple linkage of gears and a motor powered by your battery to pull a piston back. That piston is under load from the main spring, which pushes the piston back forward when the piston is released, generating compression inside the cylinder, which forces the BB down the barrel.

Gas guns utilize a compressed gas, instead of a spring piston to propel the BB down the barrel. This is release via a series of valves, hit by a knocker when the trigger is pulled, similar to how a trigger on a firearm activates a firing pin to strike a primer, but without all of the combustion.

How to improve your airsoft gun accuracy?

Improving accuracy is a complex question, as many parts of your airsoft gun play into accuracy.

The first step is making sure you have a steady and reliable FPS reading. Making sure you have no air leaks in your gearbox and internal components means you can more finely tune your hop up for a given weight of bb. This is a good time to make sure you have the right air volume in your barrel, and there are plenty of tools on the internet that make the math behind this simple and easy.

Step two involves using proper high quality, heavy weight bb’s (we recommend .28g to start) as heavier BBs can carry their force longer, and make better use of the hop-up’s rotational forces to stabilize in flight, leading to more accuracy.

Step three is all about taking a look at the components of your gun and improving individual parts. A tight bore barrel can increase accuracy in your airsoft gun by tightly focusing air behind the bb, while a hop up bucking could help impart better spin via a longer contact patch or different hardness of the rubber.

Utilizing any one of these methods can help, and heavier bb’s are a good inexpensive first step before you dive into the internal parts, but finely combing through all three steps will lead to the best results. Each of these topics is honestly worth a blog article in and of itself though, as there is a lot to unpack that we will cover in a later post.

How to get started in Airsoft?

Getting started is easy. Find a local field (by using a site like Airsoft C3 or Google) to locate one near you. If they have options for rental equipment, show up and rent a gun. It’s that easy.

If you need to buy your own gear to play, because local fields don’t exist or you’re not ready for that yet, we recommend one of these starter kits. Then call your friends up, get them to buy in, and start blasting each other!

How do airsoft spring guns work?

Spring guns work on the same principle of compression as other guns, however instead of using compressed gas, or using gears to pull a piston, you are locking the piston rearward via your own strength by pulling a bolt or operating rod to charge the gun. Pulling the trigger releases the piston, allowing air to compress between the piston head and the bb, and propel it out of the barrel.

How long do CO2 powered airsoft guns usually last?

CO2 powered airsoft guns can last different lengths depending on the quality. Some non-blowback or partial blowback guns can last six months to a year, or less if not properly cared for, while a high quality CO2 blowback pistol like this M9 can last for years and years if you take care of it, and take the time to keep it clean and lubricated.

How to tell what gun an airsoft gun is based on?

This question was awfully vague, so we’ll answer it in a few different ways.

If you want to know what an airsoft gun’s counterpart is, often times you can tell simply by looks, especially if you have any familiarity with firearms from the real world. Many firearms shapes are quite iconic and it can be pretty easy to pick out the similarities. Some guns even used licensed appearances, such as this Glock or this MP5.

If you want to know how a gun is powered, often times it is listed in the description of the product on our website. It will tell you if it is spring, gas, or electric powered, and the type of performance you can expect.

Hopefully, this has answered some of the more burning questions of the airsoft hive mind. Did you find this article helpful? Reach out to us on social media, and let us know what your questions are so we can answer them in our next Top 8!

What is UNION Airsoft? Most Underrated Team?

Team Overview: UNION Airsoft

Full Team In Kit
Full team Picture (2018)

Title checks out, I believe that UNION is the most, if not, one of the most underrated SpeedQB Teams to date. Amazing players, great people, and they do WORK on whatever field they step onto. A lot of people know them, some don’t. This is here to educate y’all on what I think is one of the most underrated teams in the SpeedQB game right now. UNION began their entrance into the Airsoft in 2016. It all started with the original members of UNION: Virus, Ello, Wolf, Keys, Sweet.tooth. They began their debut at Tac City Fullerton in … well Fullerton, CA. It all started with Virus, Ello, and Sweet-tooth working together at a wedding photography firm. Virus brought up the  idea of Airsoft! The three of them went to Tac City Fullerton for the first time. They fell in LOVE with it so Virus grabbed Keys and Wolf and began to play regularly. As SpeedQB began to become a thing, they decided to participate since they already had a 5 man. SYG montage videos and tournament style videos influenced UNION to get into the game. Shortly before that, UNION was almost named Ronin. They were brainstorming ideas on team names when UNION and RONIN became the two options. One day Ello came into work and just dropped 20 UNION patches onto Virus’ desk and that’s when UNION was decided on. Completely by accident.

UNION Jester posted up behind cover at a SpeedQB practice.

Their team specialize in smart rush style play. Wolf, who is usually their front-line, is an aimbot god on the field. He seemingly just knows exactly where everyone is at on the field. Including his teammates which is an important aspect to a good front-line. Usually running a Hi Capa as his go to weapon of choice.  Like most indoor players, they all pretty much have Hi Capas. Jester, Yung, and Virus have had experience with the KLI Hi Capa Line. Y’all should go check them out HERE. Jester and Yung also act as front lines but the great thing about this team is that any of them can play anywhere. So you competitors out there reading this? Know that these guys will flip you upside down if you think you got em understood. Virus is a beast laner/back-line as well. His Polarstar, yellow camo splattered rifle will leave you with more welts than you can count if you take it for granted. See a yellow light? Better keep it behind cover or chances are you’re already out. As the 2019 season starts, I can see these guys making huge dent in the SpeedQB game. Watch your 6 out there because they come in at every direction. Sooo … might need to watch the whole clock honestly.

  • Don’t step out in the open; use cover to your advantage
  • Don’t engage targets you can’t hit. This rifle is at its best in the 100-200 feet range.
  • Make sure your batteries are charged before the game. Consider picking up a few spares as well to keep you on the field even longer. The average battery lasts for about three to four high capacity magazines. Choose wisely.
  • Wind your hi-cap magazines before the game starts as well. Nothing is worse than trying to take a critical shot and your gun misfiring while trying to take a critical shot because you forgot to wind your magazine.
  • Long sleeves, tactical pants (or cargo pants of any kind) and a good pair of boots with ankle support are going to make you much more comfortable.
  • Water is an absolute necessity. You can keep a small bottle in an empty magazine pouch, or pick up a more dedicated pouch to attach to your vest via the MOLLE webbing.
  • Keep your gun pointed in the direction you expect the enemy to come from, that split second between seeing the other team and pulling your gun up to shoot can make the difference
  • If you get shot, call your hits! It’s only a game. The walk back to re-spawn is a good time to collect some information on how the rest of the field is changing so you can get the drop on your targets when you get back in the game.
  • DO NOT be afraid to get hit! It will be no fun to sit in a corner and wait! You are not experiencing the full adrenaline rush that this game gives you! Get. The Hell. Out. There!

Best Starter Hi Capa on the MARKET!

The KLI Hi Capa has HIT the market with a force and has created major controversy like any new Hi Capa would. Some people going as far to say that the shooting demos posted about it were CGI made! Crazy right? With any new addition to an over saturated market WILL come the conflict but the KLI Hi Capa is here to show and here is why!

KLI is an Airsoft manufacturer based out of Taiwan. They are famous for a variety of OEM projects in the airsoft world. An example is the Baba Yaga 1911 Hi-Capa Series, it is the next tactical beast to hit the market! With the durable full metal frame and slide, this pistol can take a beating! The stippled texture will give you a perfect grip without wearing gloves. The slide cuts allow you to rack the gun and press check much easier. This paired with the window cuts lighten the slide and increases the cycle rate. The Fiber Optic front sight makes for quicker target acquisition and the flared magwell assists with faster reloading. The five slot picatinny rail is cut into the frame and is able to mount a plethora of flashlight and lasers onto the sturdy frame. This pistol is left had friendly with the ambidextrous safety switch. Not to mention that this pistol is mostly Tokyo Marui compatible, which means you can upgrade this pistol with the wide variety of aftermarket parts available! This Green Gas model is shooting roughly between 300-330 FPS and is perfect for CQB gameplay. This is the Hi-Capa of your dreams, and the Boogeyman of your enemies’ nightmares!

The KLI Baba Yaga Hi Capa comes in CO2 and Green Gas power!

The KLI Hi Capa has HIT the market with a force and has created major controversy like any new Hi Capa would. Some people going as far to say that the shooting demos posted about it were CGI made! Crazy right? With any new addition to an over saturated market WILL come the conflict but the KLI Hi Capa is here to show and here is why.

The KLI Hi Capa IS in fact TM Compatible!

The KLI’s were made with customs in mind. The slides, barrels, inner barrels, buckings, etc. All these things are compatible with the bucking needing very, very slight modification to fit. Confirmed by our trusted techs, many after marketing Hi Capa parts (as long as they are TM spec) WILL fit just fine. you can build these from the ground up to be whatever color, performance level, or impressionist pistol. That is why these guns, with their amazingly budget friendly cost are fantastic starters into the Hi Capa world and can grow with you as you grow as a player! You may find these primarily indoors but outdoor built Hi Capa pistols have been done before which brings me to my next point.

The Build!

The main complaint that I have heard of when it comes to the TM pistols is that the slide is plastic. Personally? I don’t mind it very much … however many people dislike the thought of a plastic slide because they break under pressure. I think it performs great with the plastic slides but to each their own … ANYWHO! The KLIs come out of the box METAL. Yes, that is right! The KLI Hi Capa line all of metal externals and internals. Making sure that a little use and abuse wont hurt the thing too much, not saying to throw this thing against a wall or drop it running full speed BUT it can take a little more abuse than your average, everyday Hi Capa. Chrome looks pretty damn good too!

The Mag Capacity and Compatibility!

So the magazines. The reason why they are called Hi Capas. They have one of the highest magazine capacities of the Airsoft guns in existence. Most 5.1 Hi Capa magazines hold 31 BBs and can go through the whole magazine without having to refill the mag with gas!

Overall, this gun has it all! Upgrade-ability, great stock performance, 31 shots before you gotta reload … on a PISTOL?! These work great for sidearms too by the way just an FYI. Go ahead and picj yours up HERE! There are tons of models to choose from and if you’re reading this in the future. The Baba Yaga is out. GO GO GO!
